Join our team of educators and artists who supplement their income by teaching adult beginners! Slow River Studio is an innovative and fast growing art school specifically designed for adults. That means you will always have small classes of attentive, engaged, and enthusiastic students. Imagine that for a minute. Sounds fun, right? It is!

Our flexible curriculum, teaching methods and studio events are all designed to develop artistic confidence and creativity - in an atmosphere of contagious joy. Enjoy the opportunity to design and teach workshops and classes in your favorite mode of artistic expression. Our beautiful Topsfield studio is filled with lots of supplies, natural light and possibility. Come teach with us!

COMPENSATION:

  • $80 per hour in average compensation. Instructors earn $10 per student/per hour. With a minimum class size of five and a maximum of just ten students, you can expect to earn between $50-$100 per teaching hour.
  • Flexible short and long term class schedules, including evening and summer options. You can teach anything from a one-time workshop to a six-week class. We also have full time opportunities available for the right candidates.
  • Other perks include ongoing teaching support and lots of new friends. We want you to be the best teacher you can be! We offer professional development opportunities and instructor coaching, as well as half priced classes with both nationally recognized instructors and other Slow River teachers. We also have the friendliest instructors anywhere and we organize opportunities for team collaboration and goofy fun.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Enthusiastic, Reliable and Creative people who:
  • Enjoy making art and sustain a regular art practice through the inevitable highs and lows
  • Have some teaching experience (special education experience a plus) or have completed a teacher training program
  • It’s a bonus if you have experience with Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), recovery support or life coaching
