To support this mission, we are seeking multiple motivated R&D Nuclear Engineering with a passion for applying an interdisciplinary mindset to solve complex issues of importance to national and global security. These roles offer exciting growth and leadership development opportunities as an integral part of successful delivery of our missions.

On any given day, you may be called on to:

  • Develop or modify an algorithm written in fortran or C++.
  • Create or modify a user interface written in C# (WinForms)
  • Modify a radiation transport routine written in C# or C++…
  • Write automated unit / regression tests for existing code.
  • Perform testing in anticipation of an imminent software release.
  • Generate and carry out a radiation detector characterization measurement plan.
  • Respond to potential nuclear emergencies as a response analyst, either in the field or as a home team responder.
  • Travel across the country to deliver software training or participate in radiation measurements (< 5% travel).

Due to the nature of the work, the selected applicant must be able to work onsite.

Salary Range

$101,400 - $201,400

  • Salary range is estimated, and actual salary will be determined after consideration of the selected candidate’s experience and qualifications, and application of any approved geographic salary differential.

Qualifications We Require

  • Master’s degree in Nuclear Engineering or relevant field, plus four (4) years or more years of directly related experience; Or PhD as stated above.
  • Experienced in one or more software development languages (e.g. C#, C++, fortran).
  • Ability to obtain and maintain DOE Q-level security clearance.

Qualifications We Desire

  • Experience with the following:
  • Software development tools (e.g. Visual Studio, git, CMake, GitLab).
  • Object-oriented programming.
  • Testing and deploying software packages.
  • Radiation detection systems.
  • Radiation transport software (especially GADRAS).
  • Active DOE Q-level or DOD equivalent security clearance.
