The Training Manager, Learning Experience Design collaborates with Training Business Partners and SMEs to conduct needs assessments, select instructional models, and craft instructional content. The scope of responsibilities specifically includes the development of instructional materials such as videos, quick reference guides, checklists, eLearning modules and PowerPoint decks to support on-demand, live face to face and virtual/hybrid instructor led training. The Learning Experience Designer is passionate about learning and performance and is an excellent communicator who works well in ambiguity and has the ability to adapt to a fast-paced, changing landscape.
A typical day might include the following:
- Design consultation.
- Bringing a passion for both process and creativity, the Learning Experience Designer will partner with subject matter experts to own the needs assessment, design, and development of custom content and facilitated experiences with supporting tools and materials
- Scope needs by collaborating with internal and external partners to capture information needed to guide training plans that will define a world-class end user experience and drive performance
- Collaborate with partners and subject matter experts (SMEs) in order to understand business needs and translate them into learning and performance objectives
- Serve as the central point of contact and provide feedback, support and direction to external vendors who are building learning assets for the Learning Center of Excellence team.
- Actively support learning pilots, train-the-trainer sessions and observation exercises to ensure learning efficiency and identify vital interventions
Design of Training Materials
- Ability to blue-print, storyboard and prototype and move quickly to get partner feedback and agreement early in design process
- Experience in crafting interview guides for video, editing video, and in creative design.
- Write clear, concise and user friendly instructional text, audio scripts/video scripts
- Ability to use existing style guides, imagery and templates
- Design and build learner-centered multimedia and technology-enhanced course materials and resources, including online modules, simulations, and graphical content.
- Develop Train-the-Trainer materials to best prepare trainers/SMEs to deliver trainings with the highest level of quality and standards
- Develop content with a micro-learning approach
Measurement and Reporting
- Evaluate efficiency of the quality of training through formal and informal methods; collect and report on data gathered to advise program development and maintain relevance to job skills.
- Training Manager, Learning Experience Design will ensure that instructional programs are effectively implemented.
- Track trends, supervise learning efficiency, evaluate content, and adjust as required.
Lead in Learning
- Maintain excellent knowledge of how people learn (i.e., adult learning theories, neuroscience), instructional design models, state of L&D (AI, NLP, machine learning, etc.)
- Research and recommend innovative, new learning and knowledge management business solutions to meet evolving business needs.
- Researching current and new technologies for enhancing existing content in alignment with performance objectives.
This role might be for you if:
- You have experience with e-learning frameworks such as Adaptive Learning, Performance Support, micro-learning, 70-20-10 or other learning development approaches.
- You have a comprehensive understanding of training design principles, curriculum development, adult learning styles and training effectiveness.
To be considered for this opportunity, you must have 3+ equivalent practical experience designing and developing learning solutions for a variety of formats and audiences (e.g., instructor-led training, virtual instructor led training, e-learning, etc.). Bachelor’s degree in Instructional Design or a related field (e.g., Technical Writing, Educational Psychology, etc.) preferred.
