Job Description:

Seeking an individual with a music background to serve as Music Director for our fall elementary mini-musical, Disney’s THE ARISTOCATS Kids. The show will include 20 elementary-aged children with little to no musical theatre experience, so the focus is on teaching the foundational elements of vocal performance (following along when reading music, pitch, and projection) through the music.

All music will be sung in unison (some solos and small groups). The individual must have a comfort level and techniques for teaching vocal performance to elementary-aged children (ages 5-11). Preferably, this individual has taught voice lessons, piano lessons, or served as Music Director to young children in the past.

Requirements:

• Strong behavior management tactics and technique
• Ability to effectively redirect children and lead large group activities
• Flexibility and adaptability in adjusting plans for last-minute rehearsal schedule changes
• Positive and productive mindset when approaching challenges
• Collaborative nature

Responsibilities:

• Create rehearsal schedules in collaboration with the Director
• Teach group music numbers and work with individuals not working with the Director
• Assume Assistant Director role, assisting with music, choreography, costumes, and props

Schedule:

Weekly Rehearsals: Weeks of August 23 through December 8, Wednesdays and Fridays, 4:30 - 5:30pm (staff arrives at 4pm)

Performances: December 9 at 6pm and December 10 at 2pm (staff arrives 2 hours before each performance) at the studio

Pay:

$22.00 - $30.00 per hour
