Job description

• Activity Specialist - SONYC afterschool program
• Assist in the operation of the program/ Provide instruction to students

Provide basic ART instruction to students (Must have a STRONG background in ART)

• Fine Arts (Sculpture, Painting, Drawing)
• Digital/Visual Art
• Cartooning (Anime Design) (Comic Book Design)
• Preferred to be well verse in different styles of art.

Assist in facilitating additional activities for students as needed (i.e.- gym, HW help)

• Plan/submit weekly lesson plans which support engaging activities
• Perform regular student recruitment and outreach
• Assist in the management of the afterschool program, as well as proper functioning of all activities
• Monitor the needs of the program while working closely with the Site Coordinator and Program Director
• Chaperone students during field trips
• Maintain accurate and up to date records and logs and input into online database
• Submit documents in accordance with program operations (Attendance, Incident Reports, etc.)
• Ensure compliance with all required documents & deadlines (lesson plans, logs, injury logs)
• Participate as a member of the CMS team
• Model professionalism and the founding principles of CMS
• Enhance awareness of the program by participating in networking and school-wide activities
• Participate in site/department initiatives
• Meet with Coordinator regularly for supervision

Qualifications & position requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent (BA/BS preferred)
• 2-4 years of prior experience in the youth development field and/or specifically in specialist area of expertise
• Must be able to work effectively with a team
• Commitment to the empowerment of students
• Must be creative with lesson planning
• Focus on providing fun, engaging, instructional activities for students
• Participate in ongoing training’s as required for SACC license and professional development needs

Pay:

$25.00 per hour
