Job Description:

The Electrified Systems Engineering Team is looking for highly qualified and motivated engineers to join the Model Based Energy Analysis Team. In this position, you will be responsible for analyzing and optimizing the efficiency and energy usage of electrified powertrains through the use of a novel hybrid-electric vehicle model. In addition, there will be opportunities to engage in the development of Model Based Energy Analysis tools and methods. Position candidates should have a keen interest in analytical engineering work and mathematical models.

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver hybrid/electric system analysis to progress the development of HEV/EV powertrains
  • Develop techniques to analyze hybrid/electric powertrain system energy management
  • Deliver compiled HEV/EV powertrain files to support vehicle level fuel economy, range, and performance analysis
  • Collaborate with powertrain design groups to support durability and thermal design processes via analysis of hybrid/electric powertrain operation on specific customer use cases
  • Perform model correlation and validation of HEV/EV virtual vehicle model applications with prototype test data
  • Develop new technologies, methodologies, and tool chains to support the build and commissioning of electrified virtual vehicles
  • Document developed tools and methods for the proliferation of advanced model development and model-based calibration techniques

Skills Required:

  • Knowledge of hybrid/electric vehicle operation
  • MATLAB/Simulink skills, including executing existing scripts, providing the appropriate inputs, and performing minor modifications to the scripts

Skills Preferred:

  • Familiarity with global regulatory requirements for fuel economy, electric vehicle range, and emissions
  • Strong programming and tool development skills
  • Knowledge and application of control system theory

Experience Required:

  • Experience performing power, efficiency, and thermal analyses using MATLAB based model simulation packages

Education Required:

  • BS in mechanical, electrical or related engineering field

Education Preferred:

  • MS in mechanical, electrical or related engineering field
