Mississippi Outdoors is a hunting and fishing show that is a division of the Dept. of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks, and airs on MPB (Mississippi Public Broadcasting). Our show has been on the air approximately 33 years and is one of the #1 rated programs on MPB. Our success stems from the quality of work we produce and the dedication of our staff. We care about the wildlife we pursue on our show, and over the years have gained the trust of landowners across the state to doing so.
We are seeking a Videographer/Field Producer to join the Mississippi Outdoors team! This position will shoot hunting and fishing shows statewide, including interviews, camp life, and any behind-the-scene video needed for creative story telling.
Duties will also include other supporting needs of our department including;
- Shooting video for the marketing department.
- Shooting video for our individual wildlife, fisheries, and parks divisions.
- Producing video content for social media.
- Taking still pictures to be used as media promotion of the TV show.
- Assisting editors with information about your video shoot.
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma.
- 1-2 yearsâ experience as a videographer.
- We donât have time to train. Applicants need to be able to hit the ground running. A background
- In hunting and fishing is a plus but not a necessity.
- Must be a team player, open to creative dialog with the entire staff.
- Proficient shooting skills with high quality professional grade video cameras, with the ability to adapt to new and changing technologies.
Essential Functions
- Must be a productive member of our team while possessing good verbal and written communication skills.
- Creativity, knowledge of shot composition, shot selection, and how to best use available light for capturing high quality video.
- The ability to âtell a storyâ through the gathering of footage for the show.
Physical Requirements
- Applicant must be physically fit and comfortable working outdoors. Applicants will be expected to perform duties under all weather conditions including heat, cold, windy or wet, as well as any abnormal terrain or hills encountered in the state.

Pay: $300.00 per day
