The EDU Production Coordinator works on the production team to produce and execute a robust program for the SXSW EDU Conference & Festival. They support programming efforts, including concurrent sessions and workshops, competitions, performances, and the film program.
This role best suits a collaborative candidate with strong communication skills, close attention to detail, and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment. The EDU Production Coordinator is key to the programming execution process, managing production logistics pre-event and onsite, including staffing, signage production, and more.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Communicate with organizers, participants, and speakers to support production logistics.
- Advance production, security, and accessibility needs for speakers and participants.
- Provide excellent customer service and respond promptly via the SXSW EDU email account.
- Coordinate content submission, proofing, and deployment for onsite signage.
- Oversee participant interest and orders for bookstore engagement.
- Plan multiple onsite networking events, including coordinating F&B, signage, and staffing.
- Manage and organize various resources in preparation for the event.
- Support and coordinate programming onsite across all venues.
Onsite Responsibilities
The EDU Production Coordinator supports the onsite execution of conference and festival programming for SXSW EDU and generally supports the overall production of the event. Additional event support duties were fulfilled as needed throughout SXSW.
Qualifications
Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
- Experience in large-scale event planning
- Self-starter with solid prioritization and problem-solving skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; customer service experience preferred
- Attention to detail; copy-editing experience preferred
- Interest or experience in the field of education
- Proficiency with FileMaker Pro, Zendesk, Google Workspace, and Airtable
Work Location & Schedule
The position is located in Austin, Texas. Core business office hours are Mon-Fri, 10 am – 6 pm. Must be available to work additional hours from January to March, including evenings and weekends.
