JOB DESCRIPTION

NY Enrichment Group is seeking several reliable, self-motivated, independent, fun-loving, youth Anime and Comic Book Illustrator Instructors to join our team. The successful candidates will be introducing students to basic anime and comic book illustrations, as well as textures and techniques. Instructors will use a step-by-step approach to demonstrate techniques, such as panel, gutter, caption, speech balloon, SFX, basic face structure, and more. Students will also learn and make different anime styles and create graphic/comic novels combining visual art (a sense of space, mass, motion, and color) with literary and cinematic techniques (plot, point of view, character development, metaphor, allegory, flashbacks and flashforwards, speeding and slowing time, close-ups, long views, stream of consciousness, montage, etc.)

The instructor must be enthusiastic and exhibit a high degree of professionalism, a strong commitment to the communities we serve and demonstrate the ability to motivate, inspire and educate.

Duties include:

• Leading anime and comic book classes for youth in 9th-12th grade
• Creating painting curriculum & lesson plans for each session.
• Facilitate classes that follow a social group work model
• Responsible for managing a classroom of 15-20 students
• Prep for classes: arriving 15 minutes to set up and prepare to start class on time.
• Clean up: must leave locations in the condition found, or cleaner.
• Build and maintain positive relationships with staff, parents, and scholars.
• Follow up after classes with NYEG Director of Operations.
• Maintain a positive, healthy, safe, supportive and welcoming environment.
• COVID vaccination REQUIRED.

Requirements:

• Candidate should be highly responsible, reliable, punctual, flexible, outspoken, honest, self-motivated, and work with integrity. This is an independent role, with little direct supervision.
• Candidate should be comfortable working with children and comfortable working independently leading a class of students. Candidate should be a clear communicator, have a positive attitude, and be able to effectively manage a classroom.
• Relevant performance experience

Preferred but not necessary:

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
• At least 2 years of experience working with youth
• Teaching experience and classroom management skills
• A knowledge of, and willingness to teach painting classes

This is a freelance/independent contractor position.

Pay: $70.00 - $90.00 per hour
