Job Description

John Wesley United Methodist Church, Baltimore City seeks a qualified person to serve as a Part-time Drummer. The ideal candidate is to support the mission of John Wesley UMC – “To Make Disciples of Jesus Christ for the Transformation of the World” – through support of the music ministry. This role requires a person who relates well with people of different ages and backgrounds. The Drummer will collaborate with the Senior Pastor, Staff Parish Relations Committee (SPRC) and Minister of Music.

Position Specifications

• Status: Part-time, Fixed wage, no benefits.

DUTIES

Summary: Drummer provides musical leadership on the drums and auxiliary percussion and will work with the Director of Worship Design, Minister of Music, and the Senior Pastor, to ensure order, structure, and harmony among all aspects of worship within the John Wesley United Methodist Church.

• Practice individually and regularly to ensure excellence of execution in all selections each week.
• Work with other musicians (keyboard/piano musicians) as directed by the Minister of Music.
• Reports at 9:30 a.m. every Sunday morning, begins warm-up and band review for worship at 9:45 am.
• Be prepared for and attend all scheduled choir rehearsals (as needed).
• Support the church’s dynamic worship environment through well-prepared execution of all music that includes accurate leadership of hymns, praise & worship music, and other music offered by the choirs & Praise teams and congregation.
• Perform all other related duties and assignments as deemed necessary on required dates.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Five (5) years of experience working in music ministry.
