Position Summary

The Graphic Design Associate position is staffed through the Museum’s staffing partner, Kelly Services, with the location of assignment being The Corning Museum of Glass.

The position is full time and will be onsite or has the potential for being hybrid with some onsite and some at-home work, and will report to the Graphics Design Production Manager. The duration for this assignment is October 2023 through December 2024.

As a member of the Graphics team at The Corning Museum of Glass (Museum), the Graphic Design Associate leads and assists on a variety of design and graphics projects supporting Museum exhibits, programs, events, initiatives, and teams. Designs and creates materials for a range of traditional and non-traditional applications, from small- and large-scale print to digital. Supports Graphics project tracking, archiving, and production. Assists with Marketing and Communications (MarCom) departmental work as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Design
  • Develops and produces design projects, including print and digital graphics, brochures, postcards, flyers, signage, advertising campaigns, Advancement materials, Collections and exhibition support, merchandise, and program and event materials.
  • Works and maintains strong relationships with stakeholders in the MarCom department and across the Museum to execute successful deliverables.
  • Presents design concepts, articulating creative concepts and design solutions. Ensures design work meets the needs of stakeholders and is delivered on time and on budget.
  • Serves as primary graphic support for digital signage deployment throughout the Museum.
  • Graphics Project Support
  • Tracks projects and provides updates in project management system (Airtable and Monday.com), as needed. Coordinates print production with print vendors.
  • MarCom Support
  • Supports additional Marketing and Communications (MarCom) initiatives as needed.
  • General
  • Supports and amplifies the Museum’s commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion and access.
  • Cultivates a positive and productive workplace through communication, teamwork, and commitment.
  • Adheres to all Museum safety policies and procedures.

Qualifications

  • Respect and exemplify the vision, mission and values of The Corning Museum of Glass in all interactions with colleagues, staff, volunteers, and the public.
  • Ability to represent the Museum in a professional manner.
  • Adhere to all prescribed organizational and departmental policies and procedures.
  • Ability to professionally handle confidential material and associated issues; maintains confidentiality.
  • Ability to work independently, as well as with a team.
  • Ability to handle high stressful situations in a calm manner.
  • Interest in the arts, cultural programming, and museums.
  • Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree or equivalent in graphic design, marketing, or related field.
  • Graphic design portfolio required, demonstrating talented design and comfort with a bold, minimalistic brand design aesthetic.
  • Expert knowledge of Adobe’s Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Acrobat Pro) and a working knowledge Microsoft Office Suite, MS Teams and SharePoint. Familiarity with project management systems and tools (i.e., Monday.com, Airtable) desired.
  • Interest in and a passion to learn and immerse oneself in the CMoG brand and style.
  • Internship experience and/or part- or full-time graphic design experience desirable, particularly with in-house or agency design experience.
  • Must be able to take direction, absorb and apply constructive criticism, and juggle multiple projects and priorities.
  • Strong collaborative and communications skills. Able to work with multiple stakeholders (from curators to retailers) and develop creative graphic solutions.
  • Strong and creative visual eye combined with meticulous attention to typographic detail; ability to recognize and promote strong design.
  • Some weekends, evenings and holidays required; availability to work onsite or online; flexibility in hours necessary.

Pay: $20.00 - $21.00 per hour
