Job Description

One of our employers is looking to hire a UX Designer for a year-long apprenticeship program. This program includes classroom training in the evenings with on-the-job training during the day. This is a 40-hour-a-week position and may be open to hybrid hours. Those who perform will be offered permanent job placement. Everyone is open to apply, although TechNation will give preference to individuals who identify as refugees and immigrants.

Key Responsibilities:

• User Research and Analysis: Assist in conducting user research, gathering data, and analyzing findings to understand user needs, behaviors, and pain points.
• Wireframing and Prototyping: Learn to create wireframes, interactive prototypes, and mockups to visualize and communicate design concepts.
• Usability Testing: Participate in planning, conducting, and analyzing usability tests to collect feedback and inform design decisions.
• Collaboration: Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including educators, developers, and content creators, to ensure design concepts align with our educational objectives.
• User Interface Design: Gain experience in designing user interfaces that are intuitive, visually appealing, and aligned with our mission.
• Accessibility: Understand and apply accessibility principles to ensure our educational resources are inclusive and accessible to all.
• Documentation: Support the maintenance of design documentation, guidelines, and design systems to promote consistency and scalability.
• Learning and Development: Stay updated on industry trends, design tools, and best practices in UX design through continuous learning and training.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science is preferred, but not required
• Graphic Design experience or interest in the field
• Familiarity with Sketch, Figma, Adobe XD, or similar tools.
• Experience with MySQL, JSON, Access, etc. is preferred but not required
• Video editing and web display skills
• HTML, CSS, and JavaScript is preferred but not required
• Excellent organizational and time management skills
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Proficient in Microsoft Office suite, particularly Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion
• Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks with a high degree of accuracy and efficiency
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to interact professionally with all levels of the organization and outside stakeholders

$18.00 - $21.00 per hour
