Job Description:

Amerex Group LLC, a family-owned midtown Manhattan Apparel Company, is looking for a talented and enthusiastic Freelance Designer to join our team. The Freelance Designer will assist the Designer(s) in creating/developing seasonal product for outerwear.

The essential functions of the Freelance Designer include, but are not limited to the following:

Daily Responsibilities:

• Shop stores and online for new trends. Search and preparation of color/trend reports for designers and sales/buyers.
• Shopping trade/fabric shows, collecting and developing new fabrics and trims.
• Original sketching in Illustrator/preparing tech packs and BOM’s.
• Taking photos of garments.
• Prepare seasonal line sheets.
• Order samples for accounts and/or advertising.
• Work with licensors in presenting the development and product for approvals.
• Assist with photo shoots as needed.
• Attend fit sessions with models; provide comments and corrections. Adjust tech packs as needed. Make correction comments on proto samples when first received.
• Original artwork, graphics, and trim development.
• Approval of fabric looms/lab dips, trims.
• Daily communications with vendors and factories.

Requirements:

• 1-3 years apparel design experience
• Proficiency in Excel, Word, Adobe Illustrator, and Photoshop
• Reliable, hardworking, honest, and willing to help
• Strong ability to translate ideas through sketching
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Highly motivated
• Positive attitude
• Extremely organized
