Job Description

Polygon is looking for an Editor for its Games team for a full-time, temporary position that runs from mid-January to late April. This editor should excel at writing and editing short- and medium-length stories, and should also be voracious in their pursuit of finding story assignments, both for themselves and other members of the Games team. The editor will be responsible for writing a mix of news, analysis, service stories, critical takes, short-form interviews, and reviews that explain what’s interesting in the world of games and the culture surrounding them. They will also be responsible for finding story ideas online, collaborating with other editors, conceptualizing timely reported stories, and attending brainstorms to cultivate stories. Additionally, the editor will assist with other aspects of the publishing pipeline, such as headline help, social media, and SEO copy.

Requirements

• Fluent in general video game knowledge
• Knowledge of trustworthy sources in the gaming sphere
• Expertise in specific beats in the gaming sphere
• Experience building up writers on a team
• Ability to work collaboratively in a remote-first newsroom
• Interest and fluency in Grand Theft Auto
