Job Description

The part-time Digital Content Creator will need to be proficient in current design software, including but not limited to Adobe Creative Cloud and Microsoft Office. This position will focus heavily on county graphic design needs but will also need to have experience in other communications functions, such as developing communications campaigns, writing news releases, and posting on social media. You will work closely with county departments to conceptualize, design and produce requested products that support the communications efforts of the department by providing graphic design services and promoting special events. You may be tasked with designing advertisements for local publications or social media and preparing them according to vendor specifications. As part of the Constituent and Media Services team, you will also assist with developing outlines and writing communications campaigns; copy writing, coordinating, and implementing advertising campaigns, and much more. You will be part of a dynamic team that plays a critical role in helping supporting Chesterfield’s digital presence, and you will be responsible for developing compelling and meaningful content. Perform other work as required.

Requirements

• A bachelor’s degree in graphic design, journalism, English, mass communications, marketing or related field; or an equivalent combination of training and experience
• Two to three years of graphic design experience is preferred
• Current valid driver’s license and good driving record required
• Proficient in design software, such as Adobe Creative Cloud, and understand brand standards
• Excellent writing skills and knowledge of grammar and AP Style
• Proficient in layout, design, and display for newsletters, flyers, brochures, and web site features
• Able to write press releases, news articles about county departments and events
• Experience with Microsoft Office Suite
• Knowledge of various social media platforms
• Produce high-quality presentations
• Excellent time management and customer-service skills
• Able to take initiative, prioritize projects and meet deadlines
• Able to work independently and collaboratively with clients and the Constituent and Media Services team to develop clear and concise messaging consistent with the county’s brand
• Work collaboratively to brainstorm innovative ideas and execute digital, print and graphic design products that supports marketing, advertising, and public relations campaigns or other initiatives in a manner that help tells the county’s story
• Work with the photographer, videographers, creative content writers, digital media coordinator and public information officer to understand and meet department needs
• Assist with taking and editing photos for county-sponsored events

Additional Information

This is an hourly part-time position, not to exceed 56 hours every two weeks. You will alternate working three days one week and four days the next week. While you will have standard hours, local government is a 24/7 operation. This means there are meetings and events that often occur after normal business hours. This position can expect to work varied hours including occasional evenings, weekends and holidays. When that occurs, your schedule will be adjusted so you do not exceed 56 hours.
