Job Description:

PunkTorah is seeking a WordPress Developer to support the technological foundation of its Jewish educational programs. The Developer will provide back-end support to the development and deployment of PunkTorah’s websites, learning management system (LMS), and other technology systems. They will also assist the Director of Digital Experience with daily digital operations, troubleshooting issues, responding to tech-related support requests, and keeping website software updated.

What You Will Do:

• Maintain WordPress core, themes, and plugins
• Implement updates via staging then deploying live
• Update WordPress websites with new content and design improvements
• Troubleshoot bugs and interface with third-party software vendors
• Assist with systems support and tech-related questions
• Work through technical projects and tasks

Examples of PunkTorah Projects:

- Customize LearnDash or Uncanny Owl plugins to fit organization’s specific needs

- Investigate and resolve data issues with LMS and membership software

- Resolve issues with paid invoices not appearing in student’s account (PayPal API issue)

Requirements:

• Experience with WordPress, customizing complex plugins, and PHP
• Self-starter that thrives on working independently
• Strong communication and time management skills
• Eager to learn and increase skills
• Excited to work with a Jewish, non-profit organization

Additional Information:

- This is not a teaching or rabbinical role

- No prior experience with Judaism required

- Role is remote and requires self-motivation and ability to meet deadlines

- Hours and tasks will be tracked and compensated monthly

- PunkTorah observes Shabbat, Jewish holidays, and US federal holidays

- Job Types: Part-time, Contract

- Pay: $20.00 per hour

- Expected hours: 15-20 per week

- Work Location: Remote
