Job Description:
The Data Scientist position requires proficiency in one or more data manipulation programming languages such as R, Python, or Scala. The candidate must be experienced in working with structured and unstructured datasets, particularly in big data management and data mining. They should have a minimum of three years of relevant experience in mathematical modeling, statistical analysis, machine learning, AB testing, or data science using statistical programming languages, SQL, and other scripting and statistical tools. The Data Scientist should also possess proficiency in one or more visualization tools. A master’s degree or higher in a quantitative-focused field is required, although two additional years of qualifying experience may be substituted for the required education if accompanied by completion of relevant training, bootcamps, or supplemental coursework.
Requirements:
- Fluency in one or more data manipulation programming languages (e.g., R, Python, Scala)
- Proficiency in working with structured and unstructured datasets, including experience in big data management and data mining
- Minimum of three years of relevant experience in mathematical modeling, statistical analysis, machine learning, AB testing, or data science in an applied context using statistical programming languages, SQL, and other scripting and statistical tools
- Proficiency in one or more visualization tools
- Master’s degree or higher in economics, statistics, math, engineering, science, social science, data science, or other quantitative-focused field; additional two years of experience may be substituted for education
Responsibilities:
- Analyze, process, and model CDCR data for the visualization solution
- Select appropriate methods for analytical questions and support data
- Organize, clean, and transform data into usable formats
- Conduct analyses, including ad-hoc analysis and developing hypotheses
- Create visualizations and charts to communicate insights
- Present findings to stakeholders and demonstrate domain knowledge
- Develop and implement predictive and machine-learning models
- Collaborate with Data Engineers, Data Modelers, BI Analysts, and IT staff
- Create documentation and provide training to stakeholders
