Job Description

Sketchbook Games is seeking a Technical Game Designer experienced with the Unreal Engine to help rapidly design, prototype, and implement mechanics and concepts for games that have a positive impact. The role involves remote work with flexibility around GMT/BST hours and occasional co-working in London.

Requirements

  • Design experience in shipping at least one commercial game
  • Proficiency in Unreal Engine 5 and Blueprint for rapid prototyping
  • Professional game design experience in gameplay, levels, puzzles, systems, and player experience
  • Experience in areas like non-violent/first-person games is a bonus
  • Strong problem-solving skills for innovative technical and creative solutions
  • Ability to conduct and analyze playtests to improve game mechanics
  • Collaborate with the creative director to refine design details and ensure gameplay quality
  • Create clean and logical blueprints for easy readability by others
  • Ability to make decisions considering game design, business models, player archetypes, and core principles
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and adaptability in a small team environment
