Job Description

Hypersonic Labs is building HELIX, the ultimate open-world multiplayer sandbox. We are a remote-first, international team and have raised $11M from top gaming VCs. Our goal is to make HELIX the best, easiest, and most fun place to create roleplay games/servers. As a Game Designer, you’ll help design the underlying systems used by our creators to build UE5-based AAA-quality open-world roleplay servers, focusing on third-person modern action (driving, shooting, movement, and more). This is a remote position, open to candidates who are based in the UK.

Requirements

What we will need from you:

• Experience working in production on a game or games-adjacent product.
• Proven track record of delivering updates/builds on time and to specification.
• Speed and ingenuity. You are able to make smart adjustments to ship things better and faster with minimal oversight.
• Excellent organizational and communication skills, both written and verbal.
• You enjoy working in remote teams and thrive in a flexible online environment (we use Discord).
• Live Ops and/or Platform experience greatly preferred.

Nice to have:

• Understanding of games-as-platforms, modding, and “UGC” platforms like Roblox or Fortnite UEFN.
• Understanding of GTA Roleplay or equivalent servers (FiveM).
• Experience with Unreal Engine 5 / UE5-based products.
• Experience with Lua scripting, or products that use Lua or Lua-like languages.

Additional Information

This role is specifically focused on creating design/specification documents for core HELIX systems that offer enjoyable experiences for players and ease of use for creators/developers. Responsibilities also include modifying existing systems based on community feedback and conducting research on the RP game/server community.
