Job Description

The role holder will be working in a fantastic working environment with a cooperative development team. You will be part of the IT team that is introducing agility into a cornerstone of British banking due to forward-thinking leadership recognizing the advantages of adopting an agile mindset. The main purpose of this role is to undertake software development activities on the customer-facing iOS banking platform and its associated systems.

Role Responsibilities

• Keep up to date with the latest technologies in responsive web development.
• Continuously consider ways to improve applications for user value.
• Have a strong understanding of security in mobile App development.
• Aim to reduce time to delivery while improving software quality.
• Participate in forming a culture of retrospection, self-monitoring & self-improvement within the team.
• Support the entire team in delivering software from concept to live.
• Help create a fun and stimulating environment for the software development team.
• Assist in building a trusting and safe environment focusing on problem-solving.
• Contribute to wider IT initiatives improving transparency and timely information distribution.

Requirements

• Strong experience in iOS Development in both Objective-C & Swift, with a background in designing and building iOS apps.
• Strong knowledge of iOS development best practices.
• Understanding the importance of integrated testing and testability in development activities.
• Experience with testing frameworks (e.g., Appium, Calabash, XCTest) and scripting languages (e.g., shell scripts, Python, Ruby).
• Strong understanding of Git source control and the necessary elements for an efficient delivery pipeline.
• Strong understanding of agile philosophy and workstyle techniques.
• Experience working in a Scrum and/or Kanban team.
• Involvement in backlog refinement to create technical stories with quality engineers and product owners.
• Participation in agile ceremonies.
• Strong understanding of the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) with experience across all stages.
• Experience working in diverse teams across geographies.
• Good interpersonal and communication skills, with a positive ‘can-do’ attitude.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to prioritize effectively and deliver with minimal input/oversight.
• Creative mindset and willingness to work collaboratively.

Background and Experience Desired

• Experience in writing financial banking applications.
• 3+ years of iOS development experience.
• Strong knowledge of Swift and UIKit.
• Any experience with AWS Mobile Hub or Google Firebase.
• Experience with Push Notification Services and basic Android Development.

Necessary Experience or Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 GCSEs grade A-C or equivalent qualification.
• Minimum of 2 A Levels grade A-D or equivalent qualification.
• Degree level education, ideally in computer science or similar.
