Job Description

News 12 is our award-winning, hyper local news station covering communities throughout Long Island, the Bronx, Brooklyn, Westchester, Hudson Valley, Connecticut, and New Jersey. News 12 New York is our National streaming service for regional news, weather, and News 12 originals. We are looking for a Freelance Video Editor to edit video for news programs, live coverage, breaking news, and other productions and promotions. The editor will work independently or as part of a team to create pictures and sound that accurately and fairly represent the news, turning it into a finished product.

Responsibilities

• Edit video for news programs, live coverage, and breaking news.
• Create Tagged commercials for cross-channel and broadcast.
• Analyze, develop, and recommend solutions for editorial, procedural, and operational needs to ensure quality videos for both web and broadcast.
• Work closely with Lead Editors and Design teams to optimize editorial processes.
• Work efficiently within time constraints to meet weekly and monthly advertising and non-advertised requirements.
• Prepare to deal with changing requirements daily to meet the needs of other teams and the tooling.
• Create and develop both internal and external company communication.
• Collaborate with a team of other editors to effectively accomplish team goals.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the management team.

Requirements

• 5+ years of digital post-production experience; editing in Adobe Premiere Pro.
• 2+ years working in a high-pressure environment meeting tight deadlines.
• Strong understanding of digital workflows and file-based delivery.
• Strong understanding of frame rates, aspect ratios, and resolutions.
• Ability to read video scopes and audio levels.
• Demonstrated strong editorial judgment.
• Proven experience editing content for a variety of digital platforms, in non-traditional formats and resolutions.
• A team player who can work flexible hours including evenings, early mornings, and weekends.
• Proficiency in Adobe Photoshop and After Effects is a significant plus.

This position is performed in or reporting to company operations in New York State. Salary is competitive and based on job-related factors, including skills and experience. The starting pay rate/range for this position is $37,500.00 - $61,607.00 per year. This rate/range is the anticipated pay at the time of hire and does not reflect future job opportunities.
