Job Description

Gainsborough’s House is launching the “Facing the Future” project to build on the success of a previous National Lottery Heritage Fund-supported initiative. The aim is to enhance resources to broaden audience profiles and increase visitor numbers, ensuring long-term financial resilience. The Freelance Marketer will develop and execute a comprehensive marketing strategy to significantly increase visitor numbers to Gainsborough’s House, targeting both existing and new audiences through various marketing channels in a cost-effective manner.

Requirements

Location & Time Commitment: This is a hybrid role requiring one day of work per week, with availability for onsite meetings. The candidate must have their own laptop.

Deliverables:

• A comprehensive marketing strategy and action plan.
• Updated marketing contact lists and identification of new publicity avenues.
• Quarterly marketing impact reports.
• Regular press adverts and media placements.

Reporting: The candidate will report directly to the Events & Marketing Manager and collaborate with the Front of House team and Executive & Development Manager as needed.

Responsibilities:

• Develop a detailed marketing strategy focused on increasing visitor numbers and segment target audiences.
• Audit existing marketing contact lists, identify gaps, and propose strategies to expand reach.
• Assist in developing targeted marketing campaigns for upcoming events and monitor analytics.
• Devise systems for Front of House staff to collect visitor postcode data and analyze it for recommendations.
• Prepare quarterly reports summarizing marketing impact, including visitor numbers and campaign effectiveness.
• Identify appropriate publications for advertising and create promotional material aligned with Gainsborough’s House branding.

Additional Information

Term: Immediate start, ongoing for one year, with potential extension based on funding. The scope of work may be revised as needed.

Rate: £150–180 per day, paid monthly upon receipt of an invoice.
