Job Description

The Designer will utilize their strong acumen for fashion to create and interpret concepts to generate a final product for a specific brand. This role involves collaboration with various departments to manage the product development from initial concept through production across multiple brands. It is a permanent full-time position for a candidate who truly understands the market consumer and can apply this knowledge to their work. The successful candidate will work independently and alongside their Design Manager to accomplish design departmental goals.

Responsibilities

• Ownership over brands from development to production.
• Lead meetings and work one on one with directors and senior leads.
• Sketching and tech-packing.
• Lead fittings, update tech pack construction and BOMs.
• Comment on 1st prototypes and work cross-functionally with product development on costing options.
• Perform product console tasks – naming, creating, and updating styles.
• Communicate with vendors and shop the market for inspiration.
• Build tech packs, maintain detail pages, and BOMs.
• Partner with tech designers to align design vision and complete fittings independently.
• Cultivate and train assistants in refining their design development processes.
• Create detailed technical flats, line guides, mood boards, and source materials for product.
• Complete ad hoc assignments as assigned by management.

Requirements

Competencies

• Advanced hand and computer sketching ability.
• Strong communication skills.
• Strong sense of urgency and ability to prioritize deadlines accordingly.
• Organized and able to juggle multiple deadlines and calendars.
• A team player adept at maneuvering through many moving parts.
• Confidence in leading fittings and meetings, and in working one-on-one with directors and other department leads.

Minimum Qualifications

• Minimum 5-6+ years in Fashion Design.
• Leadership or management experience is required.
• Advanced knowledge of Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator is a must.
• Advanced visual and written communication skills.
• Intermediate to advanced knowledge of fabrics across categories.
• Ability to communicate silhouettes and detailed garment construction through tech pack creation and CAD.

Preferred Qualifications

• Minimum 7+ years in Fashion Design.
• Familiarity with Procreate is a plus.
