Job Description

Darkroom is a digital growth agency seeking an Associate Director, Video & Motion to join our Creative team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in video editing, motion graphics, and type animation, alongside experience in client management and mentoring junior Editors. This role involves managing a team of 4+ Video Editors to ensure high-quality video and motion engagements are delivered on time. Reporting to the Director, Creative, you’ll advocate for our creative processes and provide feedback to develop the skill sets of your team across various content types. The role is flexible and allows for 1-2 hands-on engagements as needed.

Requirements

Candidates should possess:

• 3-5+ years of senior-level video editing experience, with at least 1 year of people management experience preferred.
• Experience in producing short-form video content and editing/revising brand content.
• A portfolio or reel showcasing video editing, motion graphic design, type animation, and audio mixing skills.
• Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Premiere Pro, After Effects, Audition, Media Encoder, Photoshop, Illustrator).
• Proficiency in Figma for storyboarding.
• Exceptional time management and organizational skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
• Bonus: Experience in graphic design or marketing design.

Management Responsibilities

• Manage a team of 4+ Video Editors, supporting in advanced motion and editing techniques.
• Provide art direction on design fundamentals, ensuring high-quality output.
• Conduct weekly 1:1s with direct reports to assess client health and project feedback.
• Stay current on social media platforms and refine internal processes for client work.

Senior Individual Contributor Responsibilities

• Lead 1-2 creative engagements, closely collaborating with Designers.
• Brainstorm fresh edits and hooks that drive engagement.
• Art direct storyboards for motion design projects.
• Comfortable taking direction while working in a fast-paced environment.
