No Sweat Work Media - Freelance Multimedia Designer - On-site Johannesburg - Contract for 3 months - 1 March - 30 May 2025

Designer is needed in Johannesburg, South Africa.

An advertising agency is looking for a talented Multimedia Designer with a strong focus on digital and social media. The ideal candidate will have 2D animation and video-editing skills. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work on high-quality projects for large, well-known national and international brands, based in our busy Johannesburg office.

Requirements

• Digital agency experience and/or qualifications with a strong digital foundation

• 3 to 5 years of experience designing for social media and various digital channels, including YouTube, Paid Media (GDN), and websites

• Proficient in Mac with excellent skills in Photoshop, After Effects, and Illustrator

• Basic HTML skills and/or Google Studio experience (nice to have)

• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal

• Online portfolio showcasing work across Social Media, Digital platforms, and 2D animation

The ideal candidate will:

• Have meticulous attention to detail

• Be experienced in conceptualising, developing, and implementing creative digital designs across various channels, including Social and Paid Media, Web, and CRM

• Have excellent knowledge of best practices, technical limitations, and restrictions of different channels, including compression and format issues

• Possess 2D animation experience—capable of bringing static marketing material to life on Social and Paid Media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, Google Display Networks)

• Be bold enough to push creative boundaries within set brand guidelines, taking creative risks and trying new approaches to produce standout work

• Take ownership of projects and tasks, with the ability to work independently

• Be a proactive problem solver, offering creative solutions to design challenges

• Have a basic understanding of online marketing and the goals of Awareness, Consideration, and Conversion in digital marketing

• Have a strong grasp of typography and messaging hierarchy
