Job Description

The Third Cartel is seeking a highly motivated and talented Environment Background Artist to join our team and help bring our mobile game to life! In this role, you will create stunning, stylized mid-poly environments in Unity based on provided 2D concept art. You’ll have the opportunity to either build environments from scratch or enhance existing Unity scenes, ensuring they align with our artistic vision and technical requirements. This is a fully remote, freelance opportunity perfect for a self-driven artist who thrives in a collaborative and creative environment.

Responsibilities

• Translate 2D concept sketches into immersive 3D environments in Unity.
• Collaborate with the team to refine and enhance existing Unity environments.
• Ensure all work meets the highest quality standards and aligns with the game’s artistic vision.
• Proactively communicate and coordinate to address bugs and technical challenges.
• Take ownership of tasks and drive them to completion with a focus on quality and efficiency.

Requirements

Must-Have Experience:

• Proven experience in Unity development.
• Strong portfolio showcasing stylized, mid-poly environment art.

Must-Have Skills:

• Excellent communication and collaboration skills to ensure seamless integration and bug-free delivery.
• A curious mindset—ask questions, seek clarity, and embrace challenges with enthusiasm.
• A deep passion for games, with the ability to analyze and articulate your experiences, choices, and emotions while playing.

Additional Information

Job Type: Contract

Pay: $20.00 - $80.00 per hour

Work Location: Remote
