Job Description

We are seeking a creative and detail-driven graphic designer to join our Exhibitions and Design team at National Museums Scotland. The Designer (2D) will be responsible for providing innovative and practical solutions to a variety of 2D design challenges, focusing on exhibitions and displays in our permanent galleries, signage, and wayfinding.

This is a part-time role, requiring 21 hours (3 days) of work per week, with a salary of £36,932 - £40,123 (pro rata for part time hours). The position is based at the National Museum of Scotland, Chambers Street, Edinburgh, with potential multi-site responsibilities.

Requirements

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Professional experience working as a 2D designer in museums and heritage/visitor attractions.
  • Significant experience with Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop).
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Strong practical knowledge of accessibility guidelines relevant to 2D exhibition design.
  • Ability to organise and prioritise workload with minimum supervision.
