Job Description
These roles may be located in one of the following locations: Blackpool, Leeds, Manchester, Newcastle-upon-Tyne, and Sheffield, with potential travel required to other digital hubs. We are recruiting Senior Front-End Developers for both our Retirement and Bereavement and Care teams to assist DWP in achieving our strategic goals.
In the Retirement Services Team, we provide digital applications for citizens to apply for retirement benefits. The candidate will be expected to provide technical expertise for various systems, particularly those related to Winter Fuel and Cold Weather benefits. Proficiency in Agile methodologies and the ability to develop high-quality, well-designed code is required.
In the Bereavement and Care team, the role involves creating empathetic user interactions for vulnerable citizens. This includes delivering systems to manage and pay support payments, ensuring user interfaces are simple and clear. Technologies such as Node.js, Express, and React are involved. The successful candidate will be contributing to reusable templates and patterns for departmental use.
Requirements
Essential criteria for the role include:
- Significant demonstrable expertise in Front-end development of large scale systems.
- Detailed working knowledge and extensive experience of open-source technologies including HTML, CSS, JavaScript, TypeScript, Node.js, and modern front-end frameworks.
- Experience in building accessible compliant user interfaces.
- Proven ability in delivering unit test coverage using testing frameworks such as Jest or Mocha.
- Experience with database technologies (SQL or NoSQL), caching tools (like Redis), and API Microservices in cloud-based infrastructure (AWS or Azure).
- Ability to lead front-end activities, promoting standards and mentoring within an agile team.
Successful applicants will undergo a coding test focused on the essential technical skills and will subsequently attend a video interview to assess their experience against the essential criteria.
Other Information
