Job Description

Our client, a global leader in energy management and automation, is seeking a skilled E-CAD Designer with expertise in power board design and hands-on experience using Allegro PCB Design tools. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing complex PCB layouts for power electronics, ensuring compliance with industry standards, and collaborating with cross-functional teams including hardware and system engineers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and Development: Create and modify PCB designs for power boards, ensuring efficient layout, manufacturability, and signal integrity using Allegro design tools.
  • Schematic Capture: Work with electrical engineers to translate schematics into detailed PCB layouts.
  • Component Placement and Routing: Optimize the placement of components and routing to meet electrical and mechanical constraints.
  • Power Integrity Analysis: Conduct power distribution and integrity analysis to ensure high-performance design for power-sensitive circuits.
  • Design for Manufacturability (DFM): Ensure PCB designs are optimized for manufacturability, cost, and assembly. Work closely with manufacturing teams to meet production requirements.
  • Signal Integrity Considerations: Implement strategies to mitigate EMI/EMC issues, minimize crosstalk, and ensure high signal integrity for power boards.
  • Collaboration: Work with cross-functional teams (hardware, mechanical, test engineers) to review and implement design requirements.
  • Documentation: Create and maintain detailed documentation of design processes, revisions, and test plans.
  • Testing and Validation: Support the hardware team in testing prototypes, troubleshooting issues, and validating the final product.

Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, or related field.
  • Experience: Min. 5+ years of experience in PCB design, particularly for power electronics.
  • Tools: Proficient in Cadence Allegro PCB Design suite.
  • Knowledge: Strong understanding of power electronics, including power distribution networks, voltage regulation, and heat dissipation.
  • Design Standards: Familiar with industry standards such as IPC-2221, IPC-6012, and other PCB design and manufacturing guidelines.
  • Experience with high-current and high-power density designs.
  • Knowledge of thermal management and heat dissipation strategies for power boards.
  • Familiarity with signal integrity and EMC/EMI design principles.
  • Experience with DFT/DFM (Design for Test/Manufacturing) processes.

Additional Information

This position requires strong collaboration with various engineering teams and a proactive approach to troubleshooting and validation of designs. The successful candidate must demonstrate a commitment to quality and adherence to design standards in a fast-paced environment.
