Job Description

Sköna is seeking a freelance UX Designer/Strategist to collaborate with our team on a project-by-project basis. This is a long-term freelance opportunity (not a full-time role) ideal for an inquisitive visionary passionate about user experience, digital strategy, and research-driven design. You will lead UX research, define information architecture, and ensure seamless, intuitive digital experiences for our clients, working closely with our in-house digital team. Ideal candidates are strategic thinkers, excellent communicators, and collaborative team players who thrive in a creative agency environment.

Responsibilities

You will be responsible for:

• Leading user research, usability testing, and competitive analysis to inform web and UX strategy.
• Developing user personas, journey maps, and information architecture frameworks.
• Defining wireframes, UX flows, and interaction strategies that guide digital design.
• Working closely with designers and developers to ensure effective implementation of UX strategies.
• Presenting UX strategies and insights to clients to help them understand the value of great user experiences.

Requirements

The ideal candidate should have:

• 5+ years of experience in UX strategy, research, or digital experience design.
• Strong understanding of user research, information architecture, and usability testing.
• Experience with tools like Figma, Creative Cloud, Google Analytics, and A/B testing platforms.
• Ability to think holistically about user experience while also focusing on the details.
• Excellent presentation and verbal communication skills to effectively sell ideas to clients and internal teams.
• Ability to balance strategy with hands-on execution in a fast-paced environment.
• Experience working closely with developers and understanding HTML/CSS/JavaScript is a plus.
• B2B experience or agency experience is also a plus.

Engagement Details

This is a freelance/contract-based role operating on a project-to-project basis with potential for ongoing work. Candidates should have flexible availability during regular PST working hours. Occasional on-site collaboration in our SF office is a plus (snacks and weekly lunch provided). The compensation will be a competitive hourly or project-based rate depending on experience.
