Job Description
The Faculty of Music at the University of Toronto is seeking a candidate for the course PMU408H1/MUS4233H1 Performing as a Freelance Artist in North America. This course prepares students for a freelance career, covering industry showcases, financing, negotiation, technical production, self-advocacy, and understanding the lifestyle and impacts of a touring career. The class is scheduled for Mondays from 11 am to 1 pm during the Winter term from January to April 2026, with an estimated enrollment of 20 students. The salary for this role is $9,820.70.
Requirements
Qualifications for this role include:
- Doctoral degree in performance
- Experience as a freelance artist throughout Canada and the United States in various performance settings
- Experience teaching music at the post-secondary level
Additional responsibilities include:
- Define course objectives and materials
- Provide clear guidelines on course requirements and regulations
- Teach classes as scheduled
- Administer and evaluate student assignments
- Prepare and submit final grades in accordance with policy
- Maintain reasonable hours of student consultation outside scheduled class hours
