Job Description

As a Freelance Local Producer at Sofar Sounds, you will curate, produce, and promote concerts and live events to strengthen the Sofar community in your city. You will act as a Sofar ambassador, supported by the Global Communities team, while executing local marketing initiatives, selling sponsorships, and expanding Sofar’s presence. The role requires a strong business sense, an awareness of cultural trends, and an entrepreneurial spirit to organize and deliver exceptional live events.

Please note that this is a freelance position with commission-based pay, allowing for a flexible schedule, but with activities likely occurring over weekends and evenings.

Responsibilities

• Strengthen Sofar’s brand in your local community through self-directed marketing tactics.
• Create and execute your city’s strategy, including the number of monthly shows and themes.
• Lead the curation and booking of high-quality artists and venues.
• Manage the staffing and quality of shows to ensure exceptional experiences.
• Oversee your city’s financial performance to ensure successful events.
• Build relationships with local businesses for sponsorships and private events.
• Identify local organizations to build community and co-promote shows.
• Collaborate with local leaders to grow the city’s engagement and brand awareness.
• Support Business Partnerships and Global Communities teams in providing high-quality events.

Requirements

• Deep connections to your local scene with an active role in community building.
• 3-5 years of experience in live event curation, production, and promotions.
• Experience in selling event sponsorships or marketing activations, ideally in live events.
• Confident in pitching event concepts and a track record of closing partnership deals.
• Strong understanding of your city and its neighborhoods.
• A natural connector with the ability to build relationships with community organizations and businesses.
• Promoting and building strategic alliances to increase ticket sales.
• Professionalism and ownership in your work ethic to ensure the best experiences.
• Exceptional time management and clear communication skills.
• Able to work autonomously while staying connected to the wider organization.

Compensation

Producers earn commission-based pay per show, with compensation varying based on ticket prices, show volume, and performance, typically ranging from $100-$500+ per event.
