JOB DESCRIPTION
The University of Washington seeks a Documentary Producer (Producer 4 – Drivetime) to develop and produce documentary features and series for air on critical broadcast dayparts and for podcasts. The role involves producing regular short-form documentaries, a minimum of two longform narrative series per year, and executing innovative narrative projects. The successful candidate will have excellent communication and project management skills, thrive in a fast-paced environment, and maintain positive relationships with colleagues.
REQUIREMENTS
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Journalism or similar field and four years of professional journalism experience of increasing responsibility, preferably with background in writing for talk programming and radio production, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Knowledge of professional broadcast and journalistic standards and practices.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Strong writing, editing, and production for narrative podcasts.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively, communicate effectively, and manage complex projects.
- Strong attention to detail and organization, effective prioritization, and real-time decision-making under pressure.
- Commitment to ethical journalism and understanding of anti-racist practices.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Location: Remote/Hybrid, Seattle - Other, Seattle Campus (U District; open to hybrid work schedule).
Salary: $7,018 - $7,500 per month, overtime eligible.
