Job Description

ApertureAlley is expanding into the Albany market and seeks experienced, detail-oriented freelance videographers to join our reserve pool for upcoming legal deposition work. This is a 1099 contract opportunity ideal for dependable professionals who take pride in capturing accurate, high-quality legal video. Immediate assignments will be limited as we establish new clients, but qualified videographers will be prioritized as jobs become available. All work is in-person; remote-only videographers are not sought for Albany at this time.

Requirements

Responsibilities:

• Accurately record legal depositions in compliance with legal and client requirements
• Maintain and transport your own video gear to and from jobs
• Communicate clearly and professionally via email, text, and Slack
• Submit daily invoices with accurate records of time and mileage
• Escalate any issues promptly to ensure client satisfaction

Required Equipment:

• Professional camcorder with XLR input and date/time stamp (720p+; 4K not required)
• Sturdy tripod
• 4-channel audio mixer & 4–5 XLR wired lavalier microphones (wireless is not permitted)
• XLR cables
• Gray, blue, white, or black backdrop or similar
• Primary and secondary laptop (iPads are not sufficient)
• Headphones
• HDMI capture card
• Reliable transportation (personal vehicle)
• 20 Foot AUX Cable

Required Software:

• OBS – https://obsproject.com
• Zoom (free account)

Qualifications:

• Able to lift up to 50 lbs
• Strong understanding of video production workflow
• Excellent communication and customer service skills via phone, text, email, and Slack
• Proficient with OBS and Zoom on a computer (not tablet)
• This job is a great fit for sports videographers who already have camcorders and work seasonally!

Compensation

• Onsite coverage: $30/hr (3-hour minimum per job)
• Mileage reimbursed at $0.50/mi
• Tolls and parking reimbursed
• NET 90 payment terms (often paid sooner; NET 30–60 depending on client)

Additional Information

This is a freelance, 1099 contractor role. You must own your own gear and manage your own taxes. Assignments are not guaranteed and should not be considered your sole source of income, especially as we build our presence in Albany.

Optional: From time to time, remote deposition coverage may be needed. Compensation for remote coverage is $25/hr (2-hour minimum).
