Children's Picture Book Illustrator
A Pocket for Scout is a picture book created to help young children aged 4–8 cope with the grief of losing a pet. The story, inspired by a real family bond with a golden Labrador, focuses on themes of love, memory, and healing. The manuscript is written and being edited. I am seeking an illustrator to create warm, gentle, and emotionally nuanced illustrations that match the tone of the book and are suitable for young children. The project involves fully illustrating a 32-page book (approximately 14–16 double-page spreads, cover, and spot illustrations), with a soft, hand-drawn or watercolor style similar to Anna Walker or Freya Blackwood. Real reference photos can be provided for the main characters, Keira and Scout, but I am not looking for exact likenesses. I prefer to work with someone experienced in children’s books and willing to collaborate throughout, from rough layouts to final feedback. The timeline for completion is ideally 8–12 weeks but can be flexible for the right illustrator. This is a self-funded project, and details on licensing and scope can be discussed.
