Job Description

Next Level Games is seeking a Junior VFX Artist to join our team. As part of the VFX team, you will collaborate with the Art Director, VFX Lead, and Game Designers to create effects that align with the art vision for various projects. Your responsibilities will include supporting gameplay through effects, creating cinematic effects, utilizing our in-house engine and tools to generate VFX assets, and improving pipelines and processes within the team. This is a hybrid position, requiring you to be in our Vancouver studio for at least three days a week.

Requirements

The ideal candidate will have:

• Demonstrated experience as a VFX Artist.
• A portfolio showcasing strong real-time FX artwork and capabilities.
• Proficient understanding of particle systems.
• Experience with authoring materials/shaders in Unreal or Unity.
• Ability to create models, UV maps, and textures for VFX using tools like Maya, Blender, Photoshop, or Substance.
• Experience with simulations including rigid body, fluid, smoke, fire, etc.
• A good understanding of animation and timing.
• Ability to work effectively in a team and maximize overall performance.
• Experience with 2D Effects and Motion Graphics is a plus.
• Experience with procedural modeling (Houdini, Blender) is a plus.

The hiring range for this position is $57,000 - $72,000 CAD annually, with final compensation based on skills, education, and experience.
