Job Description

The Content Specialist (Part-time, Temporary) role is designed for four passionate educators to support the development of the 2025-2026 corps members in Connecticut. Each specialist will lead a Professional Learning Community (PLC) focused on specific content areas: Elementary (K–5), Humanities (Secondary ELA + Social Studies), STEM (Secondary Math + Science), or Special Education (K–12). The ideal candidate will possess strong content knowledge and a commitment to helping new teachers grow in their instructional practices. Responsibilities include planning and facilitating four in-person PLC sessions throughout the year, collaborating closely with the Managing Director of Leadership Development to tailor support, and fostering a learning environment for new teachers.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications

  • At least 3 years of full-time teaching experience, demonstrating content area expertise.
  • Strong planning and execution skills grounded in deep knowledge of the Common Core and instructional best practices.
  • Ability to use assessment and data-tracking tools to monitor and respond to student progress.
  • Ability to model data-informed instruction to support academic achievement.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage tasks independently.
  • Capacity to build and lead a positive, inclusive, and productive adult learning community.
  • Strong facilitation and relationship-building skills.
  • Growth mindset with openness to feedback and a desire to continuously learn.
  • Ability to attend all required in-person PLC sessions during Corps Saturdays.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience.

Bonus - Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience mentoring or coaching new or novice educators.
  • Experience with in-person facilitation and leading professional development.
  • Experience managing up and working closely with program or organizational leadership.

Work Demands

  • Willingness and ability to attend all in-person PLC engagements (August, October, February, April), including potential weekend sessions.
  • Ability to navigate and respond to the evolving needs of first- and second-year corps members.

Other Information

Position reports to the Managing Director, Leadership Development. The application deadline is Friday, Jul 25, 2025, and the role is located in Connecticut. Compensation will range from $26.54 to $35.48 hourly, dependent on various job-related factors.
