Job Description

Position Overview

Title: Audio Engineer

Status: Hourly, In-Person

Reports to: Pastoral Director of Operations and Pastor

Schedule: Includes Sundays, Catholic holy days of obligation (including Christmas and Easter), and occasional evenings.

The Audio Engineer will work at Saint Cecilia Church to set up, operate, and maintain audio recordings related to liturgies (both livestream and in-person), concerts, events, and social media messaging. Weekly hours for Sunday liturgies are 8:30am – 1:30pm. A full list of annual additional liturgies and events will be provided.

Requirements

Key Responsibilities

  • Support pastor, staff, and ministries with audio processing in the sanctuary and throughout the Saint Cecilia complex.
  • Serve as an audio engineer, maintaining optimal sound amplification in the sanctuary and balancing mixes for the livestream Sunday morning 9:30am liturgy weekly.
  • Provide audio support for the 11:30am Mass weekly.
  • Provide audio support for Feast Days including Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, Holy Week, and Easter liturgies.
  • Provide audio support for sacramental liturgies including First Communion and Confirmation.
  • Work with the AV Recording and Streaming Specialist at least once a month to assess successes and proactively respond to outstanding/upcoming issues.
  • Determine and identify a list of substitutes that can fill in should there be a need (up to 6 absences from Sunday Masses are permitted).
  • Record and livestream weddings, funerals, and baptisms as requested. These services will receive a stipend separately.
  • Operate installed and portable professional AV equipment.

Basic Qualifications

  • Entry level to 1 year of related experience.

Additional Qualifications and Skills

  • College degree preferred, as well as dedicated experience in video production, recording, and livestreaming at the industrial, educational, live event, or broadcast level.
  • Experience and knowledge of Roman Catholic liturgy preferred.
  • Knowledge of Livestream Studio 6, Vimeo, Zoom, Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience using video, recording, and livestream equipment including Black Magic, ETC, Extron, Crestron, Fleenor, Shure, and Sony.
  • Analytical and troubleshooting skills to identify and resolve technical issues.
  • Customer service experience in a fast-paced environment where quality delivery and relationship building are valued.
  • Effective interpersonal skills including written and verbal communication, able to work collaboratively.

Physical Requirements

The individual in this role may be in work situations where the ability to carry up to 20 pounds unassisted and to lift items weighing up to 50 pounds with assistance is needed. Standing and sitting for considerable lengths of time might also be required.
