Job Description

This is a paid freelance and remote position with CBR, the #1 entertainment website that publishes up-to-the-minute news on blockbuster movies, TV shows, video games, comic books, and anime. As a worldwide leader, CBR operates at a rapid pace and seeks experienced and passionate contributors who can create original high-quality content in a timely manner.

Responsibilities

• Core responsibility is in sourcing Anime news in a timely fashion.
• Adding news titles and sources to Asana for writers to claim.
• Understanding of what makes a good Anime news title/angle.
• Making judgements on flash news vs news vs features.
• Ensuring quotas are met, understanding when to overrun, and when to pass news on or to features.
• Assigning articles and communicating with writers on assignments.
• Editing articles and prioritizing the most timely edits.
• Preparing soft/niche news for weekends.
• Providing writer feedback and supporting writer development.
• Writing articles when necessary, particularly for breaking news requiring fast turnaround.
• Attending weekly team meetings.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in journalism or a related field.
• 2 years of experience in producing entertainment and related content.
• In-depth familiarity with and fierce passion for anime, especially the latest anime news.
• Experience with Google Discover and feed practices.
• Experience with a custom CMS is preferred.
