Video Editor for Children’s Storytime YouTube Series – Multi-Episode Project
We are launching a new children’s storytime YouTube channel that features a blend of live action performance, puppetry, and gentle animation for children aged 2–6 and their parents. I am a professional actor and teacher with experience in children’s theatre, aiming to create high-quality, calming, and imaginative episodes for a cozy bedtime viewing experience. We need a video editor skilled in editing multi-camera live-action shoots, integrating animated assets and overlays (such as character elements and intros/outros), applying consistent color grading, and enhancing audio with subtle sound effects. Familiarity with Adobe Premiere Pro and After Effects (or similar software) is essential. The initial phase will focus on editing a blueprint batch of 5–10 episodes (each around 6–10 minutes), establishing the channel’s style, with potential for long-term collaboration. Experience working with children’s content, understanding of YouTube best practices, and an eye for warm storytelling are preferred. Please provide examples of relevant past projects, especially those blending live action and animation in a family-friendly context.
Budget range:
$750 – 1,500 USD
Examples:
The editing and storytelling style for this channel is inspired by children’s shows that balance warmth, imagination, and clear storytelling. Some touchstones include:
Bear in the Big Blue House – gentle pacing, warm bedtime-friendly aesthetic, direct audience connection.
Blue’s Clues – integration of live action with animated elements, clear interactive feel, strong character presence.
Bluey – modern, family-oriented tone, a balance of humor and heart, appealing to both kids and parents.
The goal is a soft, cozy, bedtime-friendly look and feel with gentle pacing and warm color grading. Episodes should feel calm and imaginative, but not overly busy or loud.
Stylistically, we want:
Seamless integration of animated assets into live action.
A touch of playfulness through subtle sound effects (page turns, sparkles, whooshes) when they enhance the story.
Clear focus on the host + character interaction (me and Gerry the Giraffe).
Consistency across episodes so the channel develops a strong, recognizable brand identity.
This is not fast-cut, hyperactive editing — it’s warm, engaging, and story-driven, designed to hold a young child’s attention while still feeling enjoyable for parents.

I’ve worked in children’s theatre and touring productions, and I’m now building this channel as a long-term creative brand. My aim is to produce consistent, high-quality episodes that feel warm, imaginative, and professional, while still being simple and calming for young children.
I’m looking for a video editor who enjoys working on children’s/family-friendly content, can bring creative flair to storytelling, and wants to be part of a channel that will grow steadily over time.
