Job Description
That’s No Moon is an independent studio of storytellers and game-makers focused on creating narrative-driven experiences. We are seeking a Game Designer to join the Content Scripting team. This role requires a passion for crafting story events that integrate cinematics, scripted moments, visual language, pacing, and dialogue. The ideal candidate will interpret vision and collaborate effectively with a larger team to achieve high-quality outcomes.
This role involves bridging different disciplines, collaborating with directors and discipline leads to ensure a consistent and cohesive player experience. The successful candidate will be an experienced generalist adept in crafting narrative content of superior quality.
Responsibilities
- Create & maintain Unreal Engine assets and manage complex interactions to drive an engaging player experience.
- Collaborate with teams across animation, engineering, and art to develop narrative moments and experiences.
- Communicate and consult among disciplines, acting as a connective tissue within the studio.
- Work with production and leads to plan and prioritize project tasks on both micro and macro scales.
- Drive iteration between disciplines focusing on technical quality, feasibility, and player experience.
Requirements & Skills
- Broad experience with Unreal Engine and scripting best practices, ideally including sequencer, montages, blueprints, and event scripting; animation systems experience is a plus.
- Passion for narrative presentation and the player experience, with knowledge of the development process from concept to final product.
- Comfortable developing systems for story, character performance, and player interaction.
- Working knowledge of cinematic language, timing, staging, and narrative presentation techniques.
- Strong technical problem-solving and interpersonal skills.
- A passion for delivering high-quality games.

- Excellent communicator with the ability to accurately translate complex concepts across various disciplines.
- Approachable and enthusiastic about narrative and its technical implications.
- Deep appreciation for the various crafts that contribute to game development.
- Actively engages with feedback and understands the interplay between design and other disciplines.
- Ability to balance priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Capable of lateral thinking to solve problems and optimize resource use.
Additional Information
This is a temporary “Project Hire” position, with an uncertain duration. Employees will be eligible for several benefits including medical, dental, vision, 401(k) matching, and flexible PTO. The estimated base pay range is $89,000 - $111,000, applicable for U.S. candidates only.
