Social Media Manager for Artistic Research Project (Security Vision)

The Security Vision Project, based in Leiden, Netherlands, is looking for a Social Media Manager to enhance its digital presence and promote five years of impactful research on the politics of security and visual technologies. ONLY NL-BASED CANDIDATES WILL BE CONSIDERED. The project integrates filmmaking, fieldwork, and computational methods to study AI surveillance, facial recognition, and violence detection, aiming to foster public conversation and scholarship.

The selected freelancer will be responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive social media strategy across Instagram, Mastodon, and LinkedIn, auditing and utilizing past content, and creating engaging new materials that highlight the project’s achievements and insights. You will build a consistent brand voice, plan channel-specific content through a detailed calendar from October 2025 to June 2026, and execute regular posts.

Responsibilities also include community growth and engagement, tracking analytics, and providing monthly performance reports with actionable recommendations for future growth. The ideal candidate has proven experience growing social media accounts, strong content creation skills (including basic graphic design and video/audio editing), understanding of analytics tools, and the ability to translate complex research into accessible content. Familiarity with the cultural or academic sector and revitalizing dormant accounts is a plus.

Estimated commitment is 4-8 hours per week, with flexibility according to campaign phases.
