Job Position: Music Director (All-Academy Musical: Alice in Wonderland)
Position Type: Temporary, Part-Time (Afternoons & Evenings with occasional weekends)
Dates: December 8, 2025 – March 9, 2026 (Auditions through Production)

Do you love working with kids and bringing stories to life through music? St. Mary’s Academy is searching for a passionate and dynamic Music Director to join our creative team for this year’s all-academy musical, Alice in Wonderland. This is a joyful opportunity to inspire young performers (Grades K – 12), collaborate with talented educators, and create a whimsical musical adventure our community will never forget.
From auditions on December 8–9 to the grand opening on March 5, you’ll guide students through an unforgettable journey—helping them discover their voices, build confidence, and fall in love with the magic of musical theatre. Early rehearsals run two to three afternoons per week (2–3 hours), shifting to three to four evenings per week (4–5 hours) as opening night approaches. Weekend rehearsals may pop up as Wonderland comes to life!
Requirements
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
- Collaborate closely with the Theatre Director and production team to bring a cohesive, imaginative vision to the stage.
- Lead all vocal and music rehearsals for Alice in Wonderland with energy, creativity, and heart.
- Teach and coach students of all ages and experience levels in vocal performance and musical interpretation.
- Accompany rehearsals on piano and support the cast during performances.
- Help organize auditions, casting, and musical numbers.
- Plan and organize vocal rehearsals to prepare the cast for the production schedule.
- Foster a fun, inclusive, and encouraging environment where every student feels valued and inspired.
- Adhere to and support the mission of St. Mary’s Academy.
Qualifications/Requirements:
- Experience as a Music Director for musical theatre or as a Director of a vocal choir (required).
- A love for working with students of all ages—from budding performers to seasoned singers.
- Strong piano and accompaniment skills.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and leadership abilities.
- Availability for afternoon (3–6 PM) and evening (4–9 PM) rehearsals, plus occasional weekends.
- A passion for teamwork, creativity, and helping young performers shine on stage.
Salary/Benefits
This is a stipend position of $3,000 for the production period (December–March). Please note that this position does not include additional benefits.
