Job Description

The Mitten Quilt Co. is hiring a part-time contract Video Editor & Content Creator to turn quilting footage into engaging short-form clips and YouTube tutorials. The role involves working with various types of footage including talking-head, overhead sewing, and behind-the-scenes content, converting them into polished videos for platforms such as TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, YouTube Shorts, and longer YouTube how-to videos. The contract is for 12 weeks at 5–10 hours per week to start, with the potential for ongoing work or a larger role in the future. This position is ideal for individuals looking to build their portfolio while contributing to the growth of a small business. Regular feedback and opportunities for skill refinement will be provided.

Responsibilities

• Create content for TikTok, Instagram Reels, Facebook Reels, and YouTube Shorts
• Clean up talking and demo footage by removing mistakes, long pauses, and extra sections
• Add simple intros, outros, text, and transitions
• Turn longer recordings into multiple shorter clips ready for posting
• Implement basic transitions, on-screen text, and captions
• Add simple branding elements to videos
• Export videos in the correct formats and sizes for each platform
• Organize, label, and maintain video files for easy access and reuse

Requirements

• 1+ year of video editing experience (school, client work, or personal projects)
• Preferred skills include:
• Experience creating content for small businesses, creators, or craft/DIY niches
• Basic Canva or similar tool skills for creating thumbnails or title cards
• Familiarity with video length and formatting best practices for TikTok, Instagram, Facebook Reels, and YouTube
• Experience with short-form content editing for TikTok, Reels, or YouTube Shorts
• Editing experience with longer YouTube videos or tutorials
• Comfortable working with talking-head and overhead craft/sewing footage
• Proficient with at least one editing tool (Premiere Pro, Final Cut, DaVinci Resolve, CapCut, or similar)
• Able to follow a brand style and apply feedback effectively
• Strong attention to audio quality, pacing, and cutting unnecessary content
• Reliable access to a computer, editing software, and stable internet
• Good written communication skills and responsiveness to messages and deadlines

Additional Information

Pay: $15.00 - $21.00 per hour

Expected hours: 5 – 10 per week
