Job Description
Our client, a groundbreaking independent game studio renowned for its immersive narrative experiences, is looking for a highly talented and visionary Remote Video Game Composer to craft the sonic landscapes of our next unannounced title. This is a fully remote, contract-based position, offering the freedom to work from anywhere with a reliable internet connection. You will be instrumental in defining the emotional core of the game through your original musical compositions, creating a diverse range of pieces that will enhance player engagement and immersion.
Responsibilities include composing, arranging, and producing all in-game music, from epic orchestral scores to atmospheric ambient tracks and dynamic combat themes. You will collaborate closely with the game design and audio director teams, translating conceptual ideas and gameplay mechanics into compelling musical arrangements. This involves attending regular virtual meetings, providing and receiving constructive feedback, and iterating on compositions to meet project milestones.
Requirements
The ideal candidate will have a strong portfolio showcasing exceptional skill in orchestral composition, electronic music production, and sound design for interactive media. Proficiency with Digital Audio Workstations (DAWs) such as Logic Pro X, Cubase, or Ableton Live, and virtual instrument libraries is essential. You should possess a deep understanding of game development pipelines and audio middleware (e.g., Wwise, FMOD) is a plus. A proven track record of delivering high-quality audio assets on time and within budget is crucial. You must be adept at capturing the unique atmosphere and tone of a project, evoking specific emotions and driving the narrative forward through music. This remote role demands excellent self-discipline, time management, and communication skills. A Bachelor’s degree in Music Composition, Sound Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience, is required.
