Job Description
Under general supervision, performs complex illustrator and graphic design work, including preparation of reports, flyers, brochures, graphs, charts, infographics, ads, maps, signage, banners, event collateral, large format displays, announcements, and web and social media graphics; and performs related duties as required.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Create original digital and print graphics and illustration projects.
- Draws and sketches illustrations for inclusion in a variety of library promotional materials, reports, and signage.
- May complete artistic hand lettering and embossing; arranges displays of photographs and drawings for publicity; produces desktop lettering and designs.
- Communicate and coordinate with stakeholders to discuss their graphic and illustrator needs.
- Prepare and package final design files for printing or web use.
- Prepare sketches, graphs, charts, posters, diagrams, final drawings, exhibits, and photographs.
- Select print materials, coordinate print production, conduct press checks, and approve final prints for quality.
- Capture and edit photographic images to incorporate into design layouts.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Desired Qualifications:
- A broad array of creative design experience in both print and web.
- Advanced knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite: InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to prepare a wide variety of artistic media.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects.
- Flexibility to pick up extra hours as needed.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education: Possession of a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university; AND
Experience: Four (4) years professional, journey-level experience in graphic design or commercial art.
Substitution: Additional qualifying experience may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis.
Verification: Applicants may be required to submit verification of qualifying education and experience.
