Job Description

We are seeking a reliable and creative Freelance Video Editor to help edit long-form YouTube content for a growing DIY / home improvement YouTube channel. This role focuses on turning real-world footage from job sites and a home studio into clear, engaging, well-paced YouTube videos.

You will be provided with all raw footage, voiceovers, and notes for each video, along with access to existing content on the channel to understand the style and audience. We are looking for an editor who can go beyond basic cuts and bring polish, pacing, and visual clarity to each video.

This is an ongoing freelance position with consistent work: 2 videos per week. Turnaround time is flexible, as long as weekly delivery goals are met.

Requirements

• Experience editing long-form YouTube videos
• Proficiency with at least one major editing platform (Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, or DaVinci Resolve)
• Strong sense of pacing, storytelling, and viewer retention
• Comfortable working with large amounts of raw footage
• Basic understanding of color correction and audio leveling (no advanced sound design required)
• Ability to take notes, apply feedback, and iterate efficiently
• Familiarity with Frame.io or willingness to learn
• Interest in DIY, home improvement, or educational content is a plus (but not required)

Responsibilities

• Edit raw footage into engaging, well-paced YouTube videos (15–60 minutes)
• Work with both studio footage and job-site footage (some projects may include several hours of raw footage)
• Follow provided notes while also making creative editing decisions that improve clarity and flow
• Incorporate relevant B-roll from provided footage
• Perform light color correction when needed
• Add basic titles or simple graphics where appropriate (no heavy motion graphics)
• Place voiceovers cleanly and add light background music when appropriate
• Collaborate through Frame.io for feedback, revisions, and versioning
• Organize project files clearly and deliver final exports ready for YouTube upload
