Job Description

The Video Engineer & Audio-Visual Technician at Wheeler Avenue Baptist Church provides critical support to the Video Director in all areas of video production. This role is responsible for operating various video positions during live and recorded productions, training and supporting volunteer video team members, and maintaining video-related equipment. This technician ensures the reliability, consistency, and quality of all visual content presented during services and events.

Contract Responsibilities/Duties

Video Production Support

• Operate video switchers, cameras, playback systems, and projection during live worship services and events.
• Assist in the setup and breakdown of video production equipment as needed.
• Support the capture, routing, and delivery of video feeds for livestream and in-house viewing.

Volunteer Training and Team Support

• Train and mentor volunteer camera operators and other video team members.
• Provide ongoing guidance and support to ensure proper operation and production standards.
• Assist with creating reference materials and instructional guides for video volunteers.

Equipment Maintenance and Troubleshooting

• Maintain and perform basic repairs on video production equipment.
• Support inventory tracking and upkeep of cameras, switchers, monitors, and cables.
• Troubleshoot technical issues and support equipment upgrades in collaboration with the Video Director.

Videography & Editing

• Edit video projects using industry-standard software such as the Adobe Creative Suite.
• Support video projects by assisting with filming, lighting, and recording.
• Produce visual graphics for video projects, live productions, and worship services.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in video direction, live production, and video editing.
• Strong leadership skills and experience managing production teams.
• Proficiency with video production software (e.g., Adobe Premiere, Final Cut Pro) and hardware (e.g., switchers, cameras).
• Understanding of live streaming platforms and broadcast workflows.
• Experience with audio-visual systems setup and troubleshooting.
• Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
• Strong communication and collaboration abilities.
• Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and special events as required.

Work Environment

Work is performed in a church/community center environment with moderate exposure to outdoor temperatures and to dirt, sand and/or dust. The working conditions will vary between moderately quiet to noisy volumes. Team members will use high-end audio-visual equipment and electrical components and will be exposed to heights via lifts and ladders. Team members may be asked to work in multiple church locations. Working times will include irregular hours and on-call status including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays. Team members must adhere to appearance guidelines as defined by Wheeler Avenue Baptist Church based on an church or a representation of churches in the city or area.
