I am a freelance filmmaker with 30 years of experience, focusing on documentary work about inspiring photographers and filmmakers, as well as projects for NGO clients in rural Australia. As my workload has increased, I am seeking a dedicated video editor who prefers editing over filmmaking. The role primarily involves editing both short social media clips and medium-length documentaries (up to 30 minutes). I value creative freedom and would like to collaborate on the story but ultimately give you ownership of the editing process, with no multiple re-edits required. The work is fully remote and excellent English language skills are essential. This is a single job with potential for ongoing collaboration. Who are you, and what do you do?
I’m currently doing everything myself. I’ve been freelancing for 30 years. I spent the first 20 as a photographer and filmmaking took over completely in the last 10 years. I like everything but the editing, I can sit down and concentrate for long enough so it takes me forever. But I place great value on it because I realise the film gets made in the edit. I’m getting busier all the time and I’d love to devote more time to my passion project which is documenting the best and most inspiring photographers and filmmakers working today, in the world. So I’ll need time to travel. I’d like to hand of the editing so someone who does it faster and better than me.
