Job Description
We are looking to hire an AWS/Java developer with 8-10 years of software development experience to support the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS); Information Technology Division (ITD). This role involves close collaboration with the data modernization teams at ITD and Division of Public Health (DPH) to design, implement, and manage AWS solutions that align with their technical requirements and business objectives.
Requirements
- Must currently live in the state of North Carolina.
- Experience in modernizing legacy applications, including refactoring/migrating in-house legacy applications to the cloud environment.
- Proficient in utilizing AWS services and related components towards building enterprise-level Data Lakes.
- Experience in software development with hands-on skills in Java - strong Java, J2EE, Java Spring framework & Hibernate technology.
- Experience working with any transactional or RDMS databases.
- Experience with DevOps practices and automation tools.
- Knowledge/experience using any ETL tools; experience with data analytics using PowerBI or AWS QuickSight is a plus.
- Must have experience/familiarity with Agile/Scrum Framework environments.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills to work with cross-functional teams, including developers, business analysts, and stakeholders.
- Experience creating AWS ETL jobs and data pipelines with high volumes of data.
- AWS Certification(s).
- State Government experience.
Job Responsibilities
- Collaborating with stakeholders to gather requirements and propose effective modernization strategies.
- Design, develop, and test Java-based, cloud-native applications and backend systems.
- Utilize AWS services within application architecture.
- Develop, test, debug and deliver within timeline using the best tools and best practices available.
- Participate in code reviews, ensure security best practices, and maintain clean, efficient code.
- Monitor application performance and optimize for cost, security, and reliability.
- Ability to identify, analyze, and resolve technical issues and challenges.
- Ensures adherence to standards and best practices.
- Work with product manager, business stakeholders, and other team members to refine requirements and deliver solutions.
